I was wondering what would be the best way to clean sump filter socks? Should I rinse them out in RODI water, tap water or could I throw them in the washing machine without any detergent if I ran the machine one cycle with nothing in it, then the 2nd cycle with just the socks? I would like to keep the best chemistry for my tank thanks for any info.

I just run mine in the washing machine with no detergent. One run through and that's it. You could use a little bleach as long as you don't use them a couple days after but mine come pretty clean with just water

I run mine thru gentle cycle, hot water with a couple of capfuls of bleach and air dry.

I run mine in the washing machine on the "hot" cycle with detergent that doesn't have any dyes/perfumes in it. The detergent, IMO, is essential to remove oils and lipids that accumulate in use. After the washing machine, they get soaked in RODI to remove any possible detergent residue and then dried.

washing machine with bleach. I like to run them twice first with bleach and then one more time to wash them out. Let them dry by hanging them on a line for a few days. Never had a problem.

I turn mine inside out, run them in my washing machine for two cycles with hot water, no bleach, then hang them to dry.
