I recently got a baby hippo tang in my 55g reef tank. I have a 125g UP AND RUNNING for it when he gets bigger. He is currently about an inch long so my question is how long (or how big should he be) when I move him to the new tank?

If your tank is ready for fish now, put him in now. Tangs like to swim in open spaces.

well its my friends 125g tank. she bought him and he will be in hers. I just have him temporarily because I've always wanted one but I know he will quickly outgrow mine so I am borrowing him in a sense

Probably at 3-4" he will need to move.

i find they are one of the quicker growers in the tang family..

3-4" sounds about right.

Thanks for the replies. I decided to just let her have it now. I have a feeling I would get too attached if I kept it any longer

I would wait if the following are in the larger tank- and larger fish that could harm the tiny hippo or a large amount of flow
