So here's my question. I recently acquired a nice frag tank that I want to plumb to my current system but the frag tank even on the stand still sits below my sump. How can I integrate this frag tank into my current system and have it work. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance

Can you drop your sump to the ground? You don't want to pump from the frag tank to the sump.

Do you have a picture of the area you want to put it in?

Nope it's a 90 gallon basement sump that's plumbed to my 1st flr display and I purposely raised it to minimized head height for upstairs lowering it will affect my main display upstairs

Options are a frag tank up really high, or on first floor.

Raised up high with a small platform and a step or two?

If it were me, I would lower the sump, get a large DC pump and T off of that to both the frag and display tank. You will have adjustable head to either tank via valves and the pump at less wattage then you are now. Keep your current mag drive as a backup.

Treat it as a sump. Feed from the main tank and pump back to the sump itself
T off the display with a gate valve to the frag tank to direct the flow to the main sump if necessary

Is there room under the stand for it since ur sump is in basement

Put the frag tank under your dt, let your dt overflow into your frag tank, frag tank overflow to your sump. Nothing changes just a pit stop along the way. As a bonus some of the leftover food from your display will feed your frag tank. Make a plan to be able to siphon it now and then since you will probably get a build up of detritus in the frag tank now and then. That way the only extra power used to run the frag tank will be the lighting.

This sounds feasible to me

Ok, scenario:
Your frag tank pump goes out or gets clogged, yet the display continues to dump in. Solution, add a float off of the BoB that can monitor and turn off the main pump hopefully avoiding. Also depends on how much syphon you get from top tank in the event of outage. A bit risky

No really clean, reliable way to do this without depending upon float switches - I tried once and couldn't get it to work to my satisfaction.

The blowhole....is a high head pump with 3 flow setting you could feed several tanks with it and have one common sump........

Use 2 50ml dosing pumps.

Essentially your lowest point of tank will become your Sump.... you dont want your frag to go dry, although you do have ATO, but hen your introducing more mechanical points of failure.

I am with the others get a bigger pump and lower the sump.

lol I'm a big boy I can take criticism. Give it to me straight bud lol. I agree on almost everything except that I'm lazy as hell and lowering my sump requires plumbing new stand water change. Oh the thought alone forget it ha ha ha

Run it stand alone with no fish and just dose 2-part by hand.

I will run it stand alone but I will add dosing pumps for two part and ATO I'm lazy bro lol

Are you saying your coral actually grow? Or will you be dosing two part for coraline algae?

I was busting you on the jack o lantern. Don't mind me I have no tank and am getting bitter. Could you drill the back top of the frag tank? I drilled a 29 on the top back panel and made an overflow box and had the top of that tank just above the top of my sump.
