I have this hitch hiker that is very small. It looks like a column/pilar kind of like a stalk on a polyp but really small. And it has a string like feeder that extends out about 5 or so inches. It always extends the feeder when I feed of blow off the live rock from debri. This critter looks like it may be the size of a 1/4 inch tops. Any ideas?

Probably a Vermetid Snail. They live in rigid fixed tubes and release a stringy mucous to lure in floating food.

Pic helps for a positive ID, but I agree, sounds like a vermented.

sounds like a vermetid, a glob of super glue gel over the snail will take care of it.
