Your picture isn't good enough to show what your asking about. I am wondering if your talking about an apitasia though.

Looks like an aip to me as well. One of the off the shelf treatments may work.

Hydroids take many forms but that looks too large to be a hydroid.

Looks more like an aptasia anemone. Deal with it quickly. I like to inject them with a slight bit of kents liquid calcium and an insulin syringe. If you hit the stalk it will die.
If it is in fact a hydroid than you better frag some zoas off that plug and toss the plug and the zoas surrounding the hydroid. Not worth risking it.

Thanks. I have a few aptasia but this looked different to me. Maybe because the zoas are hiding some of it. I'll inject it and hope I don't get a zoa.
