Any chance these pumps will be going on sale anytime soon. This pump would make a perfect fit to match my Double Cone 200!

We do not have anything planned as of right now, but historically we have done a Memorial Day weekend sale. Make sure you sign up for our email newsletter on our homepage, and if you're on Facebook you can keep an eye out there for us to post the sales when they come out.

How many GPH do these pump and what is the max head pressure they can handle?

Thanks,

Dear Klaus

can i use bushing fitting 1" to 3/4" pvc pipe on the out side at 1.5m high for some waver maker equipment ? I'm not sure if that will be damage my pump.

Hi willian,

no problem with 3/4" ... The electronic compensated the smaller pipe automatically. Maybe you reduce 5-10 % the efficiency of the Pump. The RD3 Speedy want perfect going with your 3/4"pipes...

For any of you who've taken advantage to get in line for Tropic Eden, this process will look familiar...

This process forgoes the normal 'back-order' method, and creates a pending order for you that will be filled- in the order received- from the first units to ship. We won't begin selling the remainder of the shipment until all of the pre-ordered units have been labeled for shipping.

SO - to get in line for your 80W, follow these steps:

Either call in your order, and the CC number you want associated with the order, Or, email the order MINUS the card number to sales@premiumaquatics.com, and then call in with the CC# to be added to the order during normal business hours, saving yourself some phone time.

You will not be charged prior to shipment. The only difference between this order and a normal back-order is that you will not get an email asking "Do you still want to order the following". The order will automatically process and prepare to ship on the day our shipment arrives. Once your order is filled and labeled for UPS, your card will be charged, and you'll get an email notification with your tracking number and order summary.

... So, if you're certain that this is the pump for you, by all means place the order. You'll have right up until the individual orders get loaded onto the UPS truck change your mind.

Let me know if I can do anything else for you!

Hi Adamc1303 ...

the first RD3 Speedy 230 Watt in US Voltage, 110 V/60 Hz we want show by MACNA/Denver on our booth.
The 230 Watt Speedys are under production and at the moment not ready for sale. Maybe in 8 weeks, so middle or end of October for your US Voltage.

The first prototypes are runing very good, cool and extremly silent.... Next week we want show here in Premiumbord the final Controllerdesign with LCD Display and all the features. Webserver, 10 Volt entre for APEX or GHL-Controllers.
The cable from controller to motorblock is separable. The steps for change the speed are 2 watt-steps...

This pump is the *perfect* flow pump for closed loop-systems....

The 80 Watt RD3 Speedy in US-Voltage, include 10 Volt control input are now ready for transshipping to USA

You can control it with a controller like an Apex or Profilux.

jasonfrey
11/17/2014, 08:23 AM
Hi,

The 0-10v lets you connect 3rd party controllers, so then you could have a 3rd party controller turn it on, adjust speed etc instead of using the built in controller that comes with it. So basically automation.

The pump and everything else is identical and if you didn't think you would use 0-10 and bought a regular version, they do make a 0-10v box that you can add later to add that feature.

gotfrogs

My tank is 200 gallons. I installed the pump and with the 9 feet of head I am getting 1000 GPH. I want to get at least 8 times turn over. My return lines are split. Would adding another pump do the trick? Or should I just wait for the stronger pump to be released? I do like the idea of having 2 pump in case of failure.

Thanks,

Adam

Hi Adam,

Having 2 pumps would be nice, if one goes down, you at least have emergency flow. Basically would be better then having a backup pump in the closest just in case.

If you have split returns, you would run one return from each pump to each return right?

That's the plan. I am going to plumb this one in over the weekend. If the actual flow seems decent but just not enough turn over I will order another one to add to the rest of my cart that's not on sale!

If it were me, I'd try to increase the size of the existing hole to accept a 1-1/2 inch bulkhead. I'm pretty sure it is not a good idea to starve these pumps, it could cause cavitation.

I believe RE recommends the use of a perforated inlet pipe to keep out snails and other things that could jam the impeller. They sell one on their German website, but not on their US site. I'm going to make one out of 1.5" pvc.

A regular 1.5" PVC street elbow fits right in.

You don't want to put an elbow right at the inlet to the pump, it will constrict flow and cause cavitation and overheat the pump. RE requires a 4.5 - 7.5" long inlet pipe at least 1.5" diameter.

Not sure since its not a male end. It's not intended to fit into anything. If you want to increase the diameter of the inlet you can get a 2-1.5 inch reducer coupling

Here us the reply I got:
thanks for your mail and for your request.
The RD3 with 80W has a 1 1/4" this is very similar to 32mm in Europe. You will have both collars delivered to your pump, i hope so.
1" is similar(close) to 25mm. So you will need a silicone hose like this:
http://royalexclusiv.net/Accessories/silicon-anti-vibration-sets/silicon-anti-vibration-internal-RD1-8-10m-VS08-RD3-Speedy-65-75-80W::471.html?language=en
http://royalexclusiv.net/Spare-Parts/skimmer-internal/external/hoses-tubes-outlets/silicon-tubes-30x5mm-per-1-2-meter::1298.html

and

an adapter ring like this:
http://royalexclusiv.net/Accessories/tubbing-casing/Grey-Fittings-//-Program/PVC-Reduction-grey/PVC-Reduction-O-32-25mm-grey::1160.html

I am still not 100% sure what I need to connect my Red Dragon 3 Speedy Pump 80 Watt to a 1" PVC pipe via silicone tube.

acesq
12/04/2014, 07:24 PM
I'll have to check my pump again, I thought the inlet was 1.5" not 1.25". Are you sure he's talking about the inlet side? I'm also not clear why he is linking you to a 32-25 mm reducer bushing and two hoses, one at 32 mm the other at 30mm. If it is 1.5" you should get the 38 mm tube: http://royalexclusiv.net/Spare-Parts/skimmer-internal/external/hoses-tubes-outlets/silicon-tubes-38x5mm-per-1-2-meter::1299.html

Tonight I'll check the pump for the size and let you know.

Another way to do it is to use flex pvc. Not as soft as silcone, but alot easier and cheaper to deal with. These pumps are so quiet, I would bet that if you used flex pvc to connect it to the sump (put a true union ball valve in between to make it easier to service without draining the sump) and set the pump on a neoprene isolation pad you won't hear a thing.

gotfrogs
12/04/2014, 08:04 PM
I am 90% sure my output is 1" PVC and all I need is the 30x5mm silicone tube in the second link.

It's not available yet and won't be until later first quarter 2015 as I far as I am aware. For your size system, that may be overkill. If your head estimate is correct at 5' including friction loss, the RD3 80 watt will provide you over 1500GPH at 5' head which will be plenty (5x turn over) for a return on a 300 gallon display. This assuming you aren't running a bunch of reactors. Do use that head loss calculator on the link I provided in that other thread as that will take into account PVC size, elbows, unions, gate valves etc. This way you get an accurate head pressure number including friction loss as all those things factor into head pressure over and above how high the return lines are.

Having sold Speedy pumps exclusively for a long time, what kind of reliability have you seen with them - complaints, warranty, etc.

I have to decide between a Speedy or drilling my new sump for a Reelo pump, and I'd love to justify the cost of a Speedy - but I need some help. I have had a horrible experience with DC pumps from other manufacturers in the last couple years =\
