I bought a few mushrooms off this guy, his tank was covered in green hair algae . He gave me the rock with them on it. I broke the rock down to frag size pieces. What can I do to save the rest of the rock? Throw it in the sump with out running lights to get rid of the algae. Let it dry out? Chuck it? Lol.

Take a toothbrush to it in a bucket of salt water and manually remove the algae, or as you stated throw it in the sump for a little bit with no lights

Idk if a tooth brush is going to get this stuff off, I did scrub it a little last night. I'll try again today and see what happens. It's pretty tough algae

Bleach or muratic acid. If the mushroom rocks you put in your tank have the algae come back throw them away. There are a lot of different types of algae. Some like bryopsis can be very invasive and not worth risking adding it to your tank for a couple mushrooms IMO. I'd would Definetly completely kill the rock then add a piece to the sump every week or so.
