Manifold question

I am looking to run a manifold for my plumbing.....

Simple question...

Can I run a straight line shot.... 1" PVC....iwaki....go from pump to manifold to return.... All in one line?

Or is it better to tee off to manifold?

that will be fine. If I'm thinking clearly (it is early, after a late night of poker) teeing off the return line to a manifold is sort of a mini manifold all by itself.

I think the reason why some Tee it off with a gate/ball valve is so that if anything goes wrong on the manifold they can easily turn the gate/ball valve to the manifold off so they can work on it without interrupting the return flow. Add a couple unions in the manifold and this allows you to remove the manifold for repairs or replacement parts.
