Hey guys, sorry if this is a newb question: do cuttlefish have the same tendency (or skill as some may perceive it) to escape from tanks as octopi? I have always wanted an octopus but have been discouraged by their keen ability to commit suicide (escape), I see cuttlefish as a possibility if they aren't quite in the same boat as their cousins.

They have no means to escape and cannot climb glass walls.

Even many Octopus species are not prone to escaping. I kept 2 O briareus and nether ever made any attempts to escape.

Hey,
They have a tendency to escape from the tank.
Keep container tightly closed.

I seem to recall a story of one coming out of the water to grab food.

They do not. This simply is not true. While it might be possible for them to jump it's highly unlikely and as far as I know undocumented. When was the last time you saw one shoot straight up? or straight down for that matter. They hover and move side to side.
