I purchased three hammer coral heads the other day and they were originally a bright green color. It's been a week and the coral has seemed to lost its color. He is located 1/3 the way up from the bottom of the tank and I'm running dual T5 HO lighting. It was doing great the first day, but since then it looks more brown and faded. Any suggestions? Picture is below.
Thanks.

Is that only 2 t5 bulbs? How deep is the tank and at what depth does the coral sit.

Yeah it's only dual T5 unfortunately. The tank is 18 inches high and the hammer coral sits about 10 inches from the bottom.

You need a better lighting system for this. At least a 4 bulb T5 system. Also, by judging your rocks, it seems really new. How old is the tank? Did it cycle?
You can get pretty good deals for lighting just do some research. Also, LEDs seem to be getting pretty popular and proven to work.

I didn't plan on housing any SPS so I figured the light would be enough. Finding any kind of LED or T5 for a good deal seems pretty difficult. I'd like to go with the Kessil A350W but I'm not sure if that's a great deal. Bulk Reef Supply has them for $299.

Yes that is a good deal. They are usually $100 more than that. The only reason they are on sale is because they are being discontinued. I just snagged one, you should too :)

Discontinued? Really? I wonder why? I am tempted to pick one of those up or the Kessil a150W. I'm not sure what would be a better option.

I believe discontinued because they are coming out/came out with ones that can be controlled other than manually. Nothing wrong with the lights though. As far as the other A150, how big is your tank? Mine is a 65 gallon and the A350 is supplemental. If I did not have 2 T5 bulbs running as well the A350 would not be enough. I do not have one and have not seen one myself but I 'think' an A150 would be ok for a 30 gallon or under. Don't quote me as I am not sure. But you could also keep your T5s and have the LED be supplemental.

I used to have Hammers and Frogspawns with 65w x 2 pc lights. Broke the tank down 7 years ago and getting back into it myself. The T-5s should be fine if you get 2 more bulbs. It just looks and sounds like your lacking light like what it was used to at the LFS.
check out the LEDs at reefbreeders.com. They have a vendor section on this site if you have any questions. Their stuff is solid and you won't beat the price per performance.
