Does anyone know if the chevron tang might actually be a mimic to the potters angel and is actually a mimic tang like the lemon peel and eibli tangs

I don't see the similarity between the two...certainly not like lemon peels or Eiblis

The true mimic tangs are nearly indistinguishable to a casual observer to the fish they mimic; haroldi, lemonpeel, and eiblii. The chevron and potters angel wont be confused anytime soon.

To my knowledge there are no Ctenochaetus mimics.

AFAIK it's the juveniles that do it, they change patterns as they mature.

I think you mean as a juvi, if so then angels are cryptic, hard to catch with spines so predators don't heavily predate them.
