There might be two possible causes. They are:

1. the water level is too high (it is supposed to be up to ~11");
2. the venturi is blocked due to salt creep.

I have ordinary BM NAC 6. The venturi gets blocked fairly quickly. You need to unscrew it and wash it under tap thoroughly. I use a paper clip to break the hardened salt particles and shake the venturi to ensure that I do not hear any rattling noise caused by hard salt particles. If I do, then I keep cleaning the venturi until all small salt particles are removed.

Some people inject RO water through the air pipe periodically to prevent salt creep.

I hope this helps.

Check the water discharge at the base of your skimmer for something blocking it, i.e. an errant snail, etc. Have you tried disconnecting your ozone?

Seems to be bubbling under the skimmer... will try taking it apart and cleaning then will let you guys know what happens.

Hi I have started a second 75 gallon aquarium and need some help. I've done a treatment with a powder called cyano x. My protein skimmer is overflowing for the last three days. I've changed at least 25% water and am concerned to do anymore as tank has only been running for 4 weeks. Can I / should I change more water ? And will it calm down or should I be doing something else to the pump in my skimmer ? Thought I would ask here as well as I'm having same issue.

That's a lot of bubbles almost looks like soap bubbles. Did any soap get into your tank? Sounds dumb I know but I've seen crazier things end up in tanks before.

New Tank?
I just had the same problem,I am running a MSX 160 ,valve shut all the way tank was cycling and water was just a tad cloudy due to what
I think was a bacteria bloom. Foam in my cup was thick ,slimy ,and it seamed like the bubbles didnt want to break . I cleaned my skimmer by pulling it out and running it in a RO/DI ~ vinegar solution .I also ran some carbon in my sump/rufugium and that seemed to take care of it.
