Flow rate through carbon filters?

I have a dual DI unit that I converted into a carbon filter for drinking water and stuff. I used the Matricx carbon blocks from BRS in both filters. The first being the larger particle size block, and the second, the smallest one.

Just curious as to how fast I can run the water through this system for on demand need? From what I saw, I can run it at 1 gpm and it be effective. My pressure isn't that high from the city, I'm maybe half that.

I don't know what those filters are rated. How fast might depend on what you are most concerned about removing, as some things may be harder to remove than others with carbon. You can get a cheap chlorine kit to test that if that is the concern. :)

Brand name 10" x 2.5" carbon blocks are typically appropriate for a max flow rate of 1 gpm. If you need higher flow rates, you'll want larger carbon blocks. Here are some common ratings:
20" x 2.5": 2 gpm
10" x 4.5": 3 gpm
20" x 4.5": 6 or 7 gpm

If you're treating a lot of water, a standard or back-washing carbon tank will be more cost effective.
