Looking for best choice for 120g (48x24x24) mixed reef

Currently have: (4) kessil a150s
Love: shimmer, easy to set up , using goosenecks
Hate: went dead after warranty period, sort off. They still work, but flicker on/off for 50 sec on/ 10 sec off. They all do that. Really annoying
:not 100% sure the 360we can grow sps colonies, like everyone else says, just cant seem to find any pics or videos , not evenby kessil, frags yes,but full blown reefs no.

ATI : always made it impossible to hang, i ordered a 48" ati which i had to return to reefgeeks, because hanging was not possible. But i think i can get away with a 36" fixture. (8 bulbs)

Let me know what you think, and thanks for your help.

I have the 36" ATI 6 bulb and love it…have it hung as well. No opinion on the Kessil's

I am sorta a LED fanboy but if I had your tank I would choose the ATI if I could get over my fascination with controllable LEDs. Pocket FULL of cash?....... the ATI LED/T5 combo would be heaven.

Haven't ruled out the ATI led fixture, but not a front runner right now

While the shimmer of Kessils is nice, an ATI unit is still a great choice and gets my vote. It is a proven lamp that will grow almost any corals. I'm using LEDs and have used Kessils over a frag tank, but do occasionally miss T5s. LED lovers will say they grow corals, and they do, but not all SPS do well under LEDs. Some just don't color up as expected. Just my opinion.

THat ATI fixture will give a nice suntan to any coral you could put in a 120.

I don't think you will have any coverage problems with an 8-bulb fixture. I have seen other members use the same for 48" sps tanks with success.

I own two ati fixtures (6 and 8 bulb) and a Kessil. It would be an easy choice if I had to pick one...

ATI hands down.

What kind of issues did you have hanging the ati? Its pretty easy to hang those guys

I am now leaning heavy to ATI ! Now 6 or 8 , will probably do 8

You should not rule it out, and you should have it your front runner. If I had the extra money, I would own that light.

I have both fixtures and I'm using a kessil 350w for my 60cmx35cmx25cm frag tank. Both fixture can grow corals. some corals did better in kessil, some did better in ati.

Ati sunpower 8tubes produce 300 par up at the sand bed, 2 kessil 360we are not enough for sps dominated tank. IMO, 4 kessils' power still can't compare to the 8tube ati.

Did you contact Kessil? warranty or not that is very odd for all 4 to fail at the same time in that manner. I think it is something they would want to know about and possibly try to help you correct, Maybe even free of charge.......

I don't remember if those had a fan in them for cooling but could be the fans all failed at the same time and the lights are shutting down from heat the restarting, could be a relatively simply and easy fix.
