I always rather enjoy seeing what other hobbies (aka 'money pits') fellow reefers indulge in, and rather than hijack another thread, thought it'd be cool to create this thread and hear about what they are.
In my case, in order of highest to lowest absorber of disposable income, they are:
1. Reef Tank - #1 money-pit
2. Home Theater/Stereo System - used to be #1 money-pit but its pretty much as good as I can hear, so just repairs at this point.
3. Woodworking - got the tools I need so only really just wood and supplies.

One of the advantages of being old is you have had more time to accumulate stuff and, after all, one can never have too many speakers .

You are correct on me not having full wife approval but I sneak as much by as possible, lol. Right now I only have 8 ball pythons but once the breeding picks up and I start bringing some more money in the numbers will go up. Right now the only money from the snakes/rats that is coming in is from selling the rats

But I wouldn't live any other way.

Beautiful boats! They look to be traditionally planked, correct?
I personally built a canoe, now working on a 12'6" stitch and glue paddleboard. A family member is restoring an old Crosby catboat (carvel planked) so I am helping with that project as time allows.

Firstlight10: Yes it is traditionally planked! The boat is a 1948, motor is from '56.
I have an unknown plywood rowboat I hauled off the bottom of a lake over 20 years ago that I've rebuilt several times!

Nice Fox bodies! I had an 87 gt vert some years back in high school actually. Thought I was bad az with my cobra intake & 4" cowl hood. lol very fun cars though. I got in all kinds of trouble with that car on the Berlin tnpk... after I sold that for about 25 percent of my investment, a few years went by & I got the bug again. I discovered corral net, & began putting it together with gently used much cheaper parts. If I listed everything in my car you wouldn't believe how little I have into it. I built the motor 100 myself, minus the machining on the heads & bores.
I'm planning to swap the slp loudmouth mufflers out for flowmasters, & then I have an intercooler & smaller vortech pulley. I'll need a new tune after if you guys know anyone good in CT. Last time went to j&m motorsports & not really sure of how good they did. Runs great unless coasting to a stop, then it gets rough sometimes. On the gas it does great but I think it should be nice& smooth off the gas too.

My hobbies in no particular order....actually reefing is lower on the list given the number of years at it.
1. Fishing on the ocean..working on the boats. I have my 97 parker sport cabin and a 73 well craft Cc that I completely gutted and rebuilt, core up.
2. My dogs, Boston Terriers and pug.
3. Cars and car repairs. I have only had cars in the shop 3 times over the last dozen or so years...6 car family.
4. Corvettes
5. Projects. I do everything myself when possible. Not that I am cheap, just get the satisfaction of doing things myself...carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical.
6. Scuba. Mainly reefs on vacation. Typically cozumel.
7. Used to be avid golfer but one day the desire just up and vanished.

My scooter has black panels now instead of orangey red. This orangey red color was crappy spray paint on top of the awesome cherry red original paint. I couldn't get it off, so I stripped them and painted them John Deere Blitz Black. The rest of the body is original paint. 1965 Lambretta Li150. I also have a 1973 Yamaha RD350 (old two-stroke motorcycle) that I need to get running. Shouldn't take too much work though. I just need to find some time.

Nice to see a few SCUBA divers. Ten years ago I'd have had that in my top 3, but for my 40th I went to Palau on a live aboard for two weeks. Most spectacular diving I had ever experienced; made anything since pale in comparison so I rather lost the urge.
Love the Freddy Kreuger pumpkin. Couple of those on your front porch for Halloween and you would avoid the inconvenience of trick or treaters  ..... Or maybe you'd actually have more .....

Some years ago there was a pumpkin carving exhibit at the Norwalk aquarium. It was during the Obama/McCain election race because I remember a likeness of them on two of the pumpkins. Really amazing, particularly the technique of just thinning the pumpkin in places to give a shading effect. Hopeless at it myself. - thank goodness for those stencil kits!

hah! thanks Trigg. I appreciate it.
I definitely have to use those patterns. I can't draw for crap. I've gotten that hang of carving pretty well though. I can cut it up enough to maximize a good stencil but that's about it. There's a super cool site called Zombie Pumpkins that has really neat patterns...all kinds of awesome ones for horror buffs.
