Hi, so i've a 500L tank and i know my circulation ideally should be in between 30x - 50x times the volume. Contributing at the moment is the following:

2 x 4400 l/p/h Powerheads 8800 l/p/h
2 x Tunze Overflow boxes 3000 l/p/h
return pump 2800 l/p/h
Total 14600 l/p/h

So given the above i am just under 30x but were i'm having confusion is if i have my powerheads on an alternating timer should i be calculating my total as one powerhead less because they are not running together? i.e my total only being (14600 - 4400) 10200 l/p/h??

Thanks in advance for your help

yes total water movement of only powerheads/pump/return that are on at same time. so in ur case 1 Powerhead less. Also 30-50 x is guideline from mixed reef to SPS dominated.
I explain that in a guide on my blog. from it:

Fish only Tank: 5-15 times the volume
Fish with soft corals: 15-20 times
Fish with soft and lps and sps: 20-30 times
Sps dominated: 45 times and up
