I got a long anenomie and it was doing great-within the last 3 days it has just up and died! All my parameters are fine, my calcium and mag are good.....what do you think happened??? My poor clown fish was IN LOVE with that dang anenomie.....before I get her another one I want to understand what might have happened:

Tank info: 29 gal biocube
Temp 80
Ph 8.3
Salinity 1.024
Calicum 400

Additives:
Zinc 1x per week
Amino acids- 1x per week

Feeding: frozen food- plus brine shrimp
I had krill for the anenomie

What kind of anemone was it? Was the anem inflated and mouth closed when you got it?

Long tentacle anenomie. Not sure about the mouth

Why are you adding these? How are you testing for zinc? Zinc tends to accumulate and is very toxic to corals and anemones. It's not typically something that we add to a reef tank.

I think the main thing i would try to remember was if the foot(bottom part) looked healthy or had any tears .The mouth would be in the middle and usually if it was swollen or looked open that sometimes mean it's not in good shape.

Not to be rude, but you're spelling 'anenomie' wrong. It's spelled 'anemone'. To the death of the anemone though, it might have just died for no reason. Often with animals like sea stars and anemones, they will just die for no reason.:fun2: They could be sick without signs, or haven't been fed well, there are lots of possibilities.

Sorry about the nem!

Hmm my mistake. It's iodine not zinc. Geez sorry

No 'KNOWN' reason, maybe, but they did die for a reason

Same question then. How are you measuring it and why are you adding it. Iodine is another one that can cause issues if there is too much of it.
