How to handle pincushion urchin?

Do pincushion urchin sting? If so, what is the proper way to handle them? Store guy seemed unsure but was able to grab tehm out of the water with no problem.

No, you can grab pretty much any urchin if you are careful.
The long spine black urchins have very fine, very long, very fragile spines. These you need to be careful with.
But I also find these urchins to be the most gently with my coral and are the only ones I will keep in my tank now. At least until they get too big. The grow really fast.
