got a baby hippo and keeping in a breeder box. for comparison that box measures about 5" long. no other fish has shown interest if they know it's in there. would it be ok to release in main tank or should I keep in the box for a bit?
he did escape the box when I did a water change other day but I got it back in..haha

You don't have too much in your tank that should be too interested in harassing that little guy on paper. If you know there are not any bullies in there, you should be good to go.

nothing went after him when he ventured in there except when he blew into the anemone and mrs. clown began defending.
just don't want it getting sucked up into the koralia or jebao.

Tangs usually do well in strong currents, as long as the anemone sting wasn't too bad, you should be good to go

Put foam or nylon stocking around pump inlets. Ounce of prevention.
