It will be at least a few more weeks. I only have 6080's, Stream Rocks and Multicontrollers in transit. I have 50 6100's on order but none have been shipped.

I will do what I can. I got a call shortly after my first post saying some Streams were ready for shipping. I may be able to beat my prediction.

That would be great! Hopefully, I'll be in line for some. I believe they told me there was 4 unit ahead of mine so maybe they will receive more than 4. Well, we'll see. my sps are more than ready. Thank you for your time. we all appreciate you helping us when you can.

I got 10 units in this week, 2 went to Premium. Unfortunately I had a lot of LFS's on back order and 2 other mail order outlets to supply and it gets really hard to divide up who gets what. I have to go buy date of order and quantity and try to do it proportionally and fairly. I will see what I can do to get more ASAP.

Yes I agree with you mhurley. I look forward to getting them also. And I have a feeling that they are going to be well worth the wait.

Thanks Roger for trying to keep us updated. I'm glad that someone has finally made a pump that moves so much water in a closed system. Thanks again Roger

Well, I just ordered a TS24 kit from premium aquatics. There web site didn't say out-of-stock so I decided to give it a try. Cross my fingers.

Otherwise, I'll just join the list like everyone else. :)

I thought I read somewhere that the kits were being discontinued and from now on it would be "build your own kit" by buying pumps/controllers. Can't find that thread.

Anyway, I'm excited about these guys. Heck they may even show up before the actual aquarium. LOL.

Gudwyn,
You're at least 8th in line for it. I ordered mine from PA about 2 weeks ago and found out yesterday that I'm 7th in line. I checked with Champion and their list is even longer.

Mike

rvitko

The only kits discontinued were the 6010 and 6110 as well as the 7410/2, 7310/2 and 7210/2, This was an effort to streamline production. These kits came all together in one box unlike the other kits which are just pieced together, this meant another box, another assembly run and just added to the complexity of production. Further it was hard for most dealers to stock both 6010 and 6000, now they can just stock 6000 and sell the single controllers seperate.

Yup, just got the call from John at PA. I asked him to just hold the order. My tank probably won't be fully plumbed for at least 6wks, so not an issuel. Just glad I ordered early on this item.

Good luck to those ahead of me on the wait list. Hope you get your stuff real soon. :)

Roger - thanks for the info on the kits.

I have 25 more 6100 Streams in transit, I was told that new pump jigs have been completed so production capacity is now nearly doubled with more employees, new injection molding machines and new jigs for the final hand assembly.

Mike,

I only got 12 6100 Streams this week and only 2 went to Premium. On the last batch I got I sent them the lions share 8 out of 15 to try to get them caught up and I was hoping this would get you covered. Unfortunately their is no consistency to what models people are ordering or where they are ordering them from so I am constantly trying to make sure no particular vendor gets to far behind- all vendors have standing orders for more pumps than I get in. I have 3 major mail order dealers, 2 marine hatcheries/coral farms and over a dozen LFS's that need product and you can see the quantities I am getting don't spread very far. Cory said they need to get 5 pumps in to fill every order up to and including yours. You had mentioned in an earlier post that your order wasn't very far back on the list but unfortunately many customer ordered multiple pumps. I promise that your order will be filled on my next shipment. I called Germany today and expressed how urgent the situation is on the 6100 model. I was promised that they would send more next week but the shop foreman had a bad accident which removed a finger (it was reattached and he is back at work) and the electrician was behind on assembling drivers they have pumps ready but no drivers to put on them. I got 25 6000's and 27 6060's this week so from what I gather only 6100's and 6060's continue to be in a shortage situation. In further news, I was also told that for the first time since the pumps were introduced they will actually be in stock at the factory at the end of the month- they are very near to caught up- so it is looking like soon we won't always be behind. Part of the problem is that because the factory is always out of stock I only get what can be made in a day and sent over to try to keep the crowd from rioting. My humble apologies but there is really nothing more I can do, I really want to get pumps to everybody and it will soon happen that we won't have such shortages. Axel sounded very confident that the lead time of 4-6 weeks will be shortened to one week- just the time it takes for shipping- in a couple more weeks.

Roger,

Thanks for the update. And please, please don't think I'm upset about this. No apology is necessary. I (and everyone else) knew there was a waiting list for a product this good. I just wanted to know how things were progressing. Don't feel any pressure from this customer, I'm happy just knowing they're coming, soon..

Hmm. So the 6000's aren't as badly backordered? Maybe I should change my order with PA.

My 225 (72x24x30H) is going to have a 55rlt return, ampmaster 3k closed loop, and two streams. And I'm a little concerned that the DSB isn't going to hold still with all that flow.

What do y'all think? Should I go for the smaller stream pumps?

Mimbler1
10/11/2003, 02:25 PM
Roger, I've been thinking about ordering a couple of the 6100's plus controller for my 200 gal; but have been holding off to see if you produce the streams with the magnet holders. Is that mod still in the works?
thanks, Mike

rvitko
10/12/2003, 09:27 AM
Mimbler1- I don't have any status update on the magnet holder, we have so many projects in the works that I try to keep up on but frankly I inquire more about the big projects and the state of production rather thanthese smaller projects. Axel will be visiting me in a couple weeks and so I will make sure to get an update on all projects- including this holder.

Gudwyn- I have no experience with the Ampmaster pump. On there own the Stream 6100's are just right in a 180 and probably in a 225. You might ask Mako, he uses a closed loop and the 6100's in his tank.

Gudwyn,
You'll definitely have to work on your rock and pump placement to get the sand bed settled down. In my 205 (84x21x27) with 2 6100s plus about 1300gph through 2 sea swirls, it took better than 6 months to find positioning where the sandbed wasn't constantly being disturbed.

Roger,

Any word as to when 6100s might show up at Champion Lighting. I ordered one with a controler a couple of weeks ago and at the time they said it would be a couple of weeks. I called to check on the status and now I'm told it will will be "two or three weeks". I'm affraid the next time I call they will tell me it will be a month. Any hope in sight? Thanks.

I can't say as I don't have any figures on exactly how far behind Champion is. All I can say is the wait is likely to be a couple more weeks. In general it does take 4 weeks.

VegasMike
10/15/2003, 10:17 AM
I ordered my 2x6100 plus multicontroller on 9/11/03 and according to Jeremy I am third down the list. I think that really means the lead time is going to be more like eight weeks, not four.

I planned for this so it doesn't really bother me. My 450 gallon tank won't be here for another six weeks anyway.

I just thought I would give you my experience so far.:)

rvitko
10/15/2003, 10:24 AM
I called the factory today and explained that we have really fallen behind. I hope it isn't eight weeks. While supply continues to improve, unfortunately demand keeps increasing to. I am very sorry for this situation and I really hope that I can at least keep it to 6 weeks.

Roger,

I got my 6100 with controller from Champion a couple of days ago! VERY HAPPY with the pump. Let me say that again. . . VERY HAPPY WITH THE PUMP! Tons of water movement with just one pump in a 225 gal tank! I could see using maybe one more (considering I already have a very strong return from my sump) but even this one pump makes the four Hagen 802's I was using look like a joke. However, if I could make a suggestion, the mounting bracket could be a little more heavy duty. The rim on my acrylic tank is about 6 inches wide. I've seen some people who drill holes for the bracket, but it sure would be nice to have a bracket that accommodates larger acrylic tanks without having to modify the tank. After all, these are kick a** pumps that are usually needed in larger tanks. I would hate to see the mess this pump would make if it were to fall into my DSB.

Thanks for your concern in filling our orders

rvitko
10/21/2003, 02:07 PM
Their is a bracket extension for acrylic tanks. It is part 3000.26 and basically it's like playing with an erector set- you will build an L bracket that goes under the brace. The bracket was designed before I came along and was pretty much designed specifically for European trimless glass aquariums. Ever since I have only been able to acomplish retrofits using existing parts to try to accomodate different styles of US aquariums. Really, I think the bracket design is pretty good from an engineering stand point. It is solid and it is versatile. Unfortunately their is no worldwide standardization of tank styles and it means every market has a unique problem with the holder. Suction cups would just flat out not work and we were working on a magnetic holder but their are so many projects in the works now that it kind of fell on the back burner. Ever since Tunze USA was started I get to preview and approve new products and suggest changes before they come to market and this has helped make the product more user friendly in the US. Unfortunately, it is not feasible to make a unique holder for every market because of the costs of molds and R/D. Thanks for the compliments. Just keep the pump clean and the electronics dry and it should last for at least a decade.

I hope to get some soon. I have plenty of single controllers at this time and I know 7 multicontrollers were shipped to me this week but it is really not enough. Logically I would assume since they had to ship 5 pumps to fill every order up to and including yours, if Premium even had 2 controllers on hand you should be getting one.

VegasMike
10/24/2003, 11:34 AM
I think I am the third on the PA list so it looks like I will be out of luck for anything in the next couple of weeks. Assuming PA gets the goods and the additional Multicontrollers by the end of next week, 10/31, and they ship to me immediately, my experience for the wait period from order date to delivery date will be over 8 weeks (9/11 to 11/7).

There really isn't anything anyone could have done or could do to make it any faster. I am just trying to help expectations for anyone ordering in the future. If it lives up to it's billing, it is worth every bit of the waiting and is why I ordered mine three months before I needed them.
