i've gotten 3 out of 3 of them eating frozen enriched hikari blood worms as well as frozen brine shrimp in quarantine. feed every few hours cause they never stop eating. they've also been known to eat nutramar ova, fish eggs, decapsulated brine shrimp eggs, frozen baby brine shrimp, oyster eggs, other eggs

I've seen my mandarin eat some pe mysis that have hit the sand bed. That's only a few times. Most of the time he just eats pods.

my female mandarin has been wit me for over 2 years in a 37g cube wit no copepods. i used a breeder net to train her from live bbs to frozen bbs to hikari mysis to pe mysis. she will now chase down and attack chunks of pe mysis.very active feeder.it mkes for great pics...

lol wrong forum as others said but yes you can train them onto prepared foods.not terribly hard but hard enough to keep most from putting the extra effort into it
