New kind of live sand?

HI WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS USED THIS SAND BEFORE, OR WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT? IV BIN OUT OF REEF TANKS FOR ABOUT 10 YEARS JUST GETTING BACK INTO IT AND LOOK AT SAND. ANY INFO ON THIS STUFF. HERE IS A EBAY LINK TO IT

hi was wondering if anyone has used this sand before, or what it is all about? Iv bin out of reef tanks for about 10 years just getting back into it and look at sand. Any info on this stuff. Here is a ebay link to it

It looks fine to me. That type of sand is oolitic it is very fine. Its like 0.25-1mm in diameter so when you crank up the flow its gonna get kicked up very easily. Carib Sea special grade is a better choice IMO. You don't need live sand and the claim of faster cycling is hogwash. If you like it get but just remember this stuff easily creates sandstorms.

IMHO, supposedly "live" sand in a bag is a scam. You can purchase dry sand for a fraction of the cost, then seed it with a cup or two of sand from your LFS or another reefer. The dry sand will become live shortly after.

never thought of that. may stay away from it. thanks, i wont yell at you. but i will @ that other guy..lol
