Being that the tank is new, you might want to see if you can burn the aiptasia off with a lighter first.
Peppermint shrimp are hit & miss with aiptasia, not to mention the fact that they might decide to eat some of your corals one day.

Did you use live rock from another tank? I'm assuming so and the aiptasia was a hitchiker. If you did then technically, your tank may be cycled and may be ready to add shrimp.

I agree with cloak, if you can pull the rock and hit it with a lighter/small torch its the fastest and most positive way to kill them. I have 4 peppermint shrimp and still had some aiptasia that they wouldn't eat, so I pulled the rock and torched them.

I'd say burn off what you can see, then pickup some peppermint shrimp in the next 1-2 weeks or so as long as your parameters are good.

btw - be careful and use safety glasses if you use a torch as the rock can pop if you get it too hot.

Don't physically remove them unless you want 100's more they reproduce by pedal laceration so ripping them out or smashing them is only breeding more of them. If you can burn them go ahead, just do it outside and with saftey glasses. If not look up kalk paste for aiptasia.

since the tank is new, do you have options to get new rocks? starting with rocks full of aiptasia will be a disaster. burning might work temporarily but it will just grow back since you will be entering the cycling process.

Use kalkwasser make a paste and put it on the aphasia that will chemically burn them off

Glue over his hole.
I've also removed them by chipping off the part of the rock he's in and tossing it.

Just had this problem in my 29 gallon. I went with the kalk paste method. Worked great! So far no evidence of it!

I think you are right it'll appear at the end of a tank cycling , I'll do a water change within a week, or two and should I leave skimmer running or off at this time, nitrate up today at .40 ammonia still 0 PH 8.4 Thanks again for input
