I could use some current (up to date) advice regarding return pumps and return plumbing design suitable for use in conjunction with a 90 gallon using a single offset "Megaflow" overflow, which has bulkheads installed through the bottom for a single 1" drain and a single 3/4" return :spin2:
I'm on a bit of a tight budget for now, so I am hoping to be able to use one of the couple pumps I already own, at least temporarily...

Do you think the Little Giant pump would be overkill if I wanted to make a manifold off the return pump and split a percentage of flow into a refugium which would be located inside the stand, elevated slightly above main sump with bulkhead to allow for gravity overflow back into main sump?
FYI I have lots of useable space available inside the stand which was originally built to support a 60" long aquarium, which is the only reason I am able to consider running a external return pump.
I am also contemplating making some version of a return "manifold" where I can divert whatever amount of flow as needed to run a fluidized reactor (for carbon)... and maybe even include a couple extra capped off "T"s to leave room for possible future expansion...
If neither of my pre-owned pumps are suitable, what pump do you recommend I consider?
My stand is fairly tall @ 41.5", and the aquarium is 25" tall, so I am looking at a head around 5.5' approximately for reference.
I apologize for the long-winded intro and multiple questions, I wanted to provide as much insight as possible in order to better help you to help me figure out what the heck is REALLY going on over here!?!?! :lol2:
What other items should I consider installing inside the stand of my new build?
