It's a 550 gallon system I'm dosing 20 ml a day bm dosing pump split to 4 times a day about every 6 hours it doses ..... Is this ok to spread it out that much? And also how much should I up it weekly ? .5 ml a week seems kinda slow

My no3 is at 15 to. 20 and po4 is staying at 0.02 to 0.05 I also dose prodibio with the vodka seems to be helping with the po4 I know a lot of you guys a skeptical of the bacteria additives but I'm trying anything to soles up the nitrate lowering

I've also thought about adding vinegar again instead of upping the vodka doubt that would slows up the no3 dropping?

you may make it as high as 50ml on 500g system , although thats a bit high and much IMO.

you can up it by more than 0.5ml a week i would go 5 ml more a week untill you notice no3 dropping.

you MAY have to lay off the prodibio or gfo if po4 is very low in order for your nitrates to drop , once they lower you can go back as needed.

Do u guys think po4 being at 0.02 is keeping the no3 from coming down? I know u need po4 in order for no3 to come down but how much? Is a little enough?

yes a little is enough and i dont think its the cause of your nitrates not coming down , although i dont know exactly how prodibio works in conjunction with carbon dosing so not sure if its playing a role or not in keeping your no3 that high :)

Thanks u for the help I'll keep the po4 we're it is and up it 5 ml a week and go from there I worry a lot and have a hard time being patient I already have a grip of corals but there not thriving 100% due to I believe the no3

I've generally been successful ramping up dosing far faster than is generally "recommended".

I'm not sure what the typical ramp rates are based on.

The .5 ml a week per the reef keeping article .... Randy do u think po4 of 0.02 is ok and not holding me back? Reef wars says it's enough I just want to be sure I had someone tell me that if the po 4 around 1.0 it will drop my no3 faster

If 0.02 ppm phosphate is accurate, I don't think it is a problem for organisms, either too high or low.

i cannot be sure what would happen to nitrate if you continue organic carbon dosing and choose to add more phosphate. It might make nitrate decline faster, especially if phosphate is a lower than you think.

1.0 is probably a little higher than needed IMO , in all honesty I don't see the need to do prodibio bioptim And digest as vodka and vinegar will do the same thing.

While I don't know for sure what's in the Digest I would imagine its vinegar, vodka or a mix of both going by the smell of it.

The bacteria are already pResent whether you continue on with bioptim Or not.

Ok thanks for the replays. What's the safest way to increase po4 jut feeding right? Every time I feed it will go up 0.01 and therm back down again to like 0.02 I do have some zeo sponge power and aminos and zeo food I think that I bought awhile back but never used

A bit more feeding might work well, and it's easy to try. That's what I'd do.

I got it up to 0.03 by not rinsing my food :) it seems like I'll never get no3 down ... I'll be patient and keep upping the vodka a few ml a week
