Hi all,
I heard that you can use Bayer Insecticide (the kind sold at Home Depot, Lowes etc...) to dip your corals. Is this true? Is it safe with all types of corals, specifically Zoanthids and LPS?
Thanks!

I use it for dipping hasn't failed me yet. This the one you can use.

Assuming you are asking for SPS.

I use 10ml to 2 cups for 10 minutes. Lower 5 ml to 2 cups for 10 minutes for smooth skinned like Hawkins.

Check out these threads under the SPS Keepers forum:

Be sure to pick up correct bottle (Blue) "Bayer complete insecticide soil and turf"

David

And to follow up, be sure to do multiple rinses before reintroducing into DT. I use two different containers BESIDES the Bayer dip container for rinsing, and change out the water in these after each frag is dipped. I also remove (cut) frags from existing plugs as to not bring any AEFW eggs or other hitchhikers into tank. I made the mistake once of not rinsing well and ended up adding some trace of Bayer into tank. Killed off my pods.

Sincerely,

David

Thank you so much! I just tried it on some new Zoanthids and they are now opened up and thriving in my tank. I'm not sure if the Bayer caused this but they also look cleaner and brighter than before the treatment.
