Hi guys,

I have just transferred my newly hatched snow onyx clowns to their new 10 gallon tank (with airstone and heater, tank is blacked out until tomorrow morning when I will turn on a dim light for them). I do not have rotifers and cant find any around the area. I am in southern california.

Now, I am raising baby brine shrimp from eggs which should hatch tomorrow around noon. Can I feed them these? or should I try to feed them "First Bites", or frozen rotifers?

Please help!! :)

Thanks!

Clown larvae are too small to eat brine shrimp. The only thing they eat are rotifers. Contact Reed Mariculture to get some. They are in California too.

I tried really ground up pellet food before when i didnt have any rotifers but only 4 out of about 500 survived. The issue with not feeding live foods to start with is that the fry doesnt know that non moving foods are food so you have to feed many times a day and that really kills the water quality.
