View Full Version : Putting chaeto in the main tank?

I have been asking a ton of questions on here lately. My aquarium has been running for over a month now. I have a 29 gallon biocube that is cycled and just has some hermit crabs and snails in it currently. I only want to add one fish (two at the most) in the future so I'm not real keen on spending the money to turn chamber 2 into a refugium. I was going to put a media basket in there instead. It's most likely going to stay a fowlr tank. I was wondering if it would be harmful to buy chaeto and just place it between the live rock in the main display. It would add a little bit of color also and without corals I don't see why not. What's your opinion on this?

Aside from a few strands getting loose and floating around your tank on occasion, I don't see a problem with this. Just make sure you anchor it down somehow. Maybe run some fishing line through the middle of the ball, and then tie it to a small rock. Something along those lines. GL.

Try putting it in a small in tank breeder box that can suction to the side.
