I'll post pics when I get home but I grabbed 3 types off the beach yesterday. 2 green and 1 reddish. Before I throw them in I would like to know if anyone has an idea if macros from Massachusetts will survive in our tanks or if they're cold.water only? Also will they be harmful? Like I said, I'll post pics when I get home but if you have experience or knowledge on algaes from this area your input is welcome.

They'll die off. There's only one cold water species that I know of that can hack it, that's Red Gracilaria. Yes, depending on what you picked up, it could be toxic as soon as it melts away in your system. Most Caulerpa give off a toxin when they go sexual, so I would expect that from other unknown species as well.

I've had luck with locally collected codium in a reef. However, I wouldn't put the macros in until you know what they are.
