ive be3en hearing that wrapping your tank in a blanket and shutting off the lights can help eliminate cyanobacteria in a reef tank, i have been thinking about trying this as i have had a bad cyano outbreak recently, but i have a few questions:

how long should i do it for?
does it harm corals?
does the die off create excessive ammonia?
is it worth trying

thanks in advance!

I've done it before just by shutting off the lights to the tank for 3 straight days. No ill effects to the corals but it came back about 3 weeks later. You need to get to the root of the problem first to find out why you are getting it. After changing my lights from PC to LEDs and a few water changes I haven't noticed any cyno return.
