I added too much ammonia to 2 35 gal. containers of LR and DR last month with ammonia after they had been sitting in water for 2 months prior to that
When I first tested for Ammonia atthe time, I got Cobalt blue. No number available. After a 100% water change and 2 weeks I tested again and this is what I got.
It loos like between .25 and 0. What do you think?287547

Any next step suggestions?

Thanks.

Looks zero to me. However, pictures aren't always the best when color is in question. :(

Go for salifert tests. Place the vial on a piece of white paper. THere will be a flashover point in which opacity changes. That is your answer, and it will come in numbers when you consult your measured syringe against the chart.

I have sure been waiting to get there to ZERO..
I am thinking it is time to get this rock into my DT now. Would I be wrong to put some shrimp in the tank as well to confirm the cycle completion?
Thank you all.

I have the Sals.for post cycle. Steve, I thought the API's are accurate enough for ammonia and Nitrates tests.

Does it matter what you put in a tank first? the corals or the fish?

Clean up crew first. Snails would be best

API are notoriously innacurate. Ammonia on mine will show .25 or 0 depending on the ambient room light.

Do you have heaters and water flow in the containers?

I am so ready to get this done.

Yes to both. All the equipment is here and ready. A pump I just ordered just arrived via UPS. The tank is not on the stand yet. My neighbor hurt his back cutting a bush down. I think it was an azalea. :rolleye1:
Once the tank is relocated and rock in place I want to do another leak test to check and see if I broke anything. Then I want to do the famous "make for sure" shrimp test to confirm that my bio guys are up to speed.
I am so ready to get this done.:xlbirthday:

api test kit is notorius for having that hue of green to it i always read zero and just being in sales at a lfs im very familiar with this kit and if you have ammonia it will always register darker green on that kit
