Triggerfish

For some reason of all the fish available i really enjoy seeing two firefish hovering together. its almost like the tank isn't complete without them.
I have been keeping a pair now for a few months. they were not added together. Both would hover in the middle of the tank. about 4 days ago i noticed one was not with the other in their usual location. it was hovering under a rock area near the side. didnt come out to eat. no frayed fins or any damage noticed. it did come out later with the other but didnt stay long.
today i found it dead on the sand.
the fish was orginally smaller than the first one in there but grew pretty good over the months to be close in size with the other.
maybe just some random disease of sorts?
I read where one can kill the other over time but seems unlikely in this situation.
Any other experiences with keeping a duo of these fish?
