I recently installed a neptune apex with lab grade pH probe and my pH started around 7.9-8 little lower at night but after being on my tank for about a week now I've noticed the pH has now gone up to 8.2 yesterday?

pH was slowly getting higher and higher every day and not dropping as low the following night. Any ideas as to why this has been happening? I did also check my pH with test kits and another pH probe to confirm the readings and they are said the same thing? I'm not worried about the pH as I know alot of people struggle to get pH up that high just curious as to why it started out low and has slowly climbed to where it is today and I have changed nothing with the tank short of just adding the apex for automation.

Also I checked all my parameters last night.

Mag 1350
Calcium 450
DKH 10

All checked with either red sea pro test kits or hanna digital tester.

Brand new probe? Try recalibrating. Sometimes new probes drift a bit.

+1 recalibrate.
This frequently happens with new probes. It maybe a few weeks before you get it fully dialed in.

FWIW, in the absence of very high pH additives (such as limewater), the pH of a reef aquarium will never get too high. :)

I don't think its the probe as I stated its brand new and I checked it against my pinpoint meter which said the same thing and also against a liquid test kit which again said the same pH. So unless all three are wrong the pH its reading is right. I wasn't worried about the pH level as much as just wondering why it has decided to go up? Maybe protein skimmer finally dialed in and broken in cause the pH to rise?

The amount of CO2 in your home air will impact the pH, and the CO2 level relates to how open your windows are, which may change day to day. :)

Lately here its been hot and my oldest son suffers from allergies to pollen so most of the time with the exception for a short time in the fall the windows are closed and running ac or heat all year round. I guess for now just see how it goes and if it continues to stay higher. Which is what I was shooting for to begin with but wasn't able to achieve.
