Bought a stunner chalice frag and decided to feed it with reef snow while feeding my zoas and noticed that after I fed it there seemed to be some stringy stuff coming off of it. I'm very much a rookie so I don't know if that's a bad thing it not. Should I stop feeding it like that?

I've had little stinger tentacles come out of a chalice before, looks like a short white string.

Just make sure to have it isolated from other corals. Mine had 6" tentacles and it's only 6" across. They are clear and stringy.

My huge colony of Hollywood Stunner just wiped 8 heads off my Darth Maul zoa colony. Careful!!!

Yep, that stunner chalice can really send out some stingers if it wants to.
My green Sprung's Stunner is around 8" across.

These kind of strung out and then came off.almost like some kind of mucus

If they are not sweeper tentacles (like you said, they are coming off) then it could just be pooping.

Talked to my LFS and he told me that it is mucus and that I need to turn off my pumps before feeding them. That is their way of holding on to food. So I did that.seemed to work great till I woke up this morning. I have a flame Ángel and a bicolor Angel in the tank. Apparently that made my corals smell real good to them. Before that they had never touched them. Hope they haven't developed a taste for them now

Those angels like to pick at the mucus on lps they don't eat the flesh but the behavior can cause stress to the corals

I prefer not to spot feed my Stunner because of this. It grows like a weed...small frag to about 8" across in 9 months.

Stunners are nice but fast growers and they need plenty of room they will definitely sting anything within 6" or so this should be considered when placing once they encrust it's very difficult to move them I recently had a stunner that grew from a small 1" frag to 8-10" in one year after trimming it several times I decided it had to go I couldn't remove the parts that were encrusted it was a lg piece of rock I had to remove other corals flip the rock and then re place the corals major PIA
