Just like my title says I'm building a DIY acrylic tank with the ADA 60-p dimensions with some material I have left over. Could I get away with not having some kind top/brace on the tank. I wanted to keep the rimless look.
Total water volume will around 8 gallons.

9mm is basically the min to have for a tank with those dimensions without bracing assuming proper joints,etc...

We assume this is cell cast acrylic too and not something else.

you don't need a brace with that small tank or sump. Anything 12" or less in height and your good.

Yep, 9mm will be good. Know a guy that built one slightly larger with 9mm and everything is peachy two year down the road.
