Hi all,

This is my first post on RC, and i'm just about to start my first reef tank :-). I have a shallow 36 (l) x 18 (d) x 12 (h) tank from a pervious planted tank project that i'm planning on using. I've just bought a aquamedic ocean light 150 T (150w MH (14,000k) and two 24w T5 HO actinic) and i'm wondering if this will be too much light for LPS in such a shallow tank?. Can anyone help/offer some advice?

Thanks,

Lee.

It will be fine if you suspend it about 12 inches off of the water.

have to hang it that high to cover a 36 inch area anyway

Yep at those dims, I would hang until the light just starts to spill on the floor over the rim. Then adjust as everything gets acquainted. You can keep anything you want with that light. Good choice IMO
