Have quite a few corals, lots of softies but also some stylo, montipora etc.
Things weren't too bad until I got the clam.
Instant ca issue, so I started dosing kent tech-cb.
Started at 10ml of the a/b, moved up to 15, found 16 or so keeps me at around 425.
I don't always test at the same time, but I find my kh varies from 7.8-8.6
Is this normal or should I expect swings?
I have just bought some dosers (brs kit), but it may be a few days until I get that going.

Those type of kh swings have negative effects on sps - try to keep it steady @ 8 or 9kh
Also check mag - it will help keep cal and kh steady

Testing at the same time of day will help with steady test results , as will sticking to the same water change sizes and brands of salt.
Testing before dosing or water changes is always a good idea to get n idea of your bottom low before doing brings it back up:)

Your doser will help automate things for you over a 24 period :)

I would dose based on an alkalinity test result. That will be a lot more accurate than a calcium kit, due to test noise issues and the quantity of calcium in water as compared to alkalinity. It's 20 ppm of calcium consumed for every 2.8 dKH.

Thanks, that was very helpful.
