Hello Everyone. I'm a long time reefer and lurker on the forum. Throughout the years I have had tanks ranging from 10G to 300G. With the move of my family to Colorado for work in 2010, I have been out of the hobby for four years. This year my wife finally convinced me to get back into the hobby. So I figured it was about time for me to actually share one of my builds.

Equipment in use:

2 x Jebao WP10 Wavemakers
1 x Jebao DC-6000 Return pump
1 x ASM Mini-G Skimmer with Sicce Pump
1 x Ecoxotic E-Series Full Spectrum LED Lighting
1 x Arduino Controller

20G Long Sump
40G Breeder Display

I'm running the beananimal overflow setup using 1" plumbing. I'm using an Arduino Mega 2560 to controller my Return Pump flow, along with my wavemakers. The controller is also monitoring temp, water level for ATO, ATO Pump, and other components. I'm using the setup designed by d0ughb0y on this forum, with my own custom modifications. The stand was a fun process to build. Something I worked on, in the evenings and spare time on the weekends.

Enough talk and here are some pictures.

Awesome tank to start with. Great start!

Your stand came out great. What size lumber did you use for construction? I have the exact same tank and sump, also in Colorado!

So the stand framing is 2x2 Lumber, Screwed and Glued together. The Outside skin is all 3/4" Birch, and the Trim on the top and bottom is Red Oak. Unfortunately I was unable to source the fluted pieces in Red Oak, and didn't want to wait 1-2 weeks, so I used Pine. The Flooring in the stand is 1/2" Birch. I sealed the inside of the stand with some waterproof silicone, then painted the inside with 2 coats of Kilz White Primer, and 2 coats of Kilz water resistant paint.

The Doors are made out of the 3/4" Birch when I cut the holes, and used some basic trim to make them look half way decent (red oak trim). The stand measures 29 3/4" Tall, but 39" wide, and 26" deep. I went extra deep so I could run the plumbing up thru the top, instead of the back.

Both ends of the stand have the same trim as the doors, but on the right hand side, it actually pops off (hidden door), so I can slid my sump tank in and out.

This weekend I'll be cutting the back to add 2 x 120mm Case Fans, that I will control with my controller to keep the inside of the stands temp around 79*.

awesome controller. Do you have a build thread?

I am interested in controller as well. Are you Computer Engineer major? ;P. I will be building 40B too in couple months so I am following this thread!

Meant to reply the other day and got busy.

For the Controller, I branched off this controller thread.
http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2332822

I recommend anyone looking for a good Arduino Controller for their aquarium to read the entire thread and use this controller. I've branched of somewhat from d0ughb0y's original design a little. I have started to move all his web interface off the Arduino over to a Raspberry Pi 2, but leaving the Arduino in place to do all the controlling.

Now as for career, I'm a Network Engineer, that does programming on the side. I started programming in QBasic when I was 5, being taught by my father, and by 8 was doing full fledged Cobol programming. I do a lot with all C versions, PHP, Java, and Perl.

I will see what newer pictures I have, and post them up shortly.

Some pictures as promised. I'm currently fighting some Cayno. I'm 99% sure it's not over feeding as I only feed every other day. I'm still trying to figure out what it is. I'm starting to lean towards the Ecoxotic E-Series Full Spectrum LED Lighting.

is that a new board design? Did you design the PCB?

I am just getting back into the game with a 40gb... this gets me really excited.
