have a 150 72"L 18"w 28"D with AI Sol Blues appox 6" x 12"

should I mount my LED's vertical over the tank or horizontal...

they will be in a canopy appox 12" above water level

As always Thanx in advance

I would say it would be dependent on par needs for your critters. Consider your light spread for you tank's inhabitants needs.

It's a reef tank... soft corals and some fish and inverts

You just mount them as needed to cover the area needed.. no magic behind it..

Seems like given your stock, you'll be good. If you had sps, I'd be more concerned.

But which way would give better coverage... horizontal or vertical?

according to AI either direction is fine....

BUT

it worked better for me hanging them horizontal to the tank...

Since your tank is only 18" front to back I would run them parallel with the tank to get the most coverage out of each unit.

Right.

If your tank is rectangular, then run your lights' long edge parallel with your tank's long edge. If your tank is square, then it doesn't matter.
