54 corner tank, mostly LPS, really only want the wavemakers on 1 panel of glass that is against the wall. I had a single MP10 this spring, and it wasn't strong enough at 100% and was loud at that level too. So in order to keep with the MP10's I would have to put another one on the other panel, which I really don't want to do.
Would a MP40 running at 20-30% be silent? I know it will have enough flow, not directional but still a wide pattern.

Any thoughts?

I feel like you answered your own question. An MP-10 wasn't enough and you don't want to put a pump on both sides... :)

Yeah pretty much, but always looking for experience or thoughts before I pull the trigger.

A pump on both sides wouldn't be the end of the world, but I would prefer to keep it only on the wall side since the other panel is open to another room over a 1/2 wall.

If i may pitch in, i also have a similar tank, a 65 gal with LPS and i only have an MP40 in one if the sides at 20-30% lagoon mode. Tank gets good flow while the fleshy pieces gently glide.

Ive owned the mp10 and think you will get better result with one mp40.

Good luck

I agree, the single MP10 was too small but the flow was good. So I'm hoping the single MP40 will be just right.

I like minimal equipment in the display, so 1 MP40 will be the only thing in the display. It's hard with the bow front of the pie shape to get even flow, but the gyre works great with my rock setup.

You should be good with the MP40.
Hold on to that MP10. You might decide to use it later on.

The MP10 is long gone, I've been using 2 - WP10 for the past few months. Then one of the WP10 died, so I'm using just one now. They did replace it under warranty, but I'm leaning towards a single upgrade.

I think I'm going to give the 1 MP40 a shot and see how it does.
If it doesn't work out, at least I can sell it pretty easily.

Got the MP40 this week, plenty of flow........but lack of direction is looking to be an issue. I'm going to play with placement a little this weekend, but I'm thinking 2 - MP10's might be better.

Tagging along as I am about to have to make the same choice.
