so i posted this on the neptune system and it didn't help...

basically i am trying to get my vortechs to not completely shut off during FeedA: i used the graph feature and randomly switched between profiles and the feed mode used to work until i messed around with the graph.. then it stopped working and now my pumps turn completely off vs. just reducing the speed.

this freaks me out because my cherub angel fish, blenny, and baby chevron tang just go hang out in the vortechs and that is just an accident waiting to happen.

here is my current program

Fallback ON
Set ReefCrst
If FeedA 000 Then Slow

my "Slow" program is set to Constant at 5% and i changed the % to 1-10 and still when i hit feed mode, the pumps turn off completely....:deadhorse1:

any ideas?

thanks,

nick

I think you have the % set too low for "slow". The slowest speed a Vortech will run at is 30% even if you program in a lower number. I would set slow as 30% and see if that helps.

ok thanks. hopefully it works!!!

if anyone else has any ideas, i am all ears!

I can set my MP-10's profile to constant 1% and it still turns slowly, also the led flashes white indicating its in the feed mode. You might want to post your "slow" profile so we can look and see if there might be a problem there.

According to Vortech anything below 20% in the constant mode will activate the feed mode, however I don't think the pump actually slows below 20% regardless of what percentage you enter, except entering 0 (zero) percentage and it will stop.

okay here is my Dashboard for the Vortech Graphs ( i stopped using the graphs and just set one vortech mp10wes to lagoon and the other to reefcrest:

here is my profile configuration for "Slow" mode:

here is my basic setup on one of my vortechs (they are both set up exactly the same):

and here is the Advanced setup on that same vortech:

I think your main issue lies with the bottom of this screen where it says "Maximum Intensity". Change that to 30% as thegrun suggested and try the feed cycle again. You might have to futz with that percentage until you get one that works. I've never tried to run mine that low, so I can't say how low you can go.

hey SpyderTurbo! been a long time!

my questions is if yours is at 2% then y wouldnt mine work at 2%?

also, Spyder.... do you run a graph with your vortechs? or just use the standard modes? i used to run a graph (that i enjoyed playing with) and my pumps would switch between all the modes to have waves then nutrient transport then constand then reefcrest then etc... and feed mode worked... now it doesnt... i can live with it but i just dont get why it randomly stopped working...

I've never tried mine at 2% so I have not idea if they will run that slow. Maybe it's just something like one is dirtier than the other, or the glass is thicker on one tank than the other. Maybe bump it up in 5% increments and see when it starts turning.

Is the graph function something I'm not familiar with to be honest. Maybe it's a fusion thing?

I just use ReefCrest during the day while the lights are on at a max of 65% and then Lagoon at night with a max of 40%.

The lowest speed your Vortech will run at is 30% (check your owners manual).

The lowest speed your Vortech will run at is 30% (check your owners manual).

With the APEX controlling the MP-10 pump, if you set it to the constant mode and less than 20% it will go into the feed mode with the light on the Neptune controller turning white (indicating the feed mode) and the pump will be running at less than 30%.

From the Apex manual, check page 71-72.
The speed you can run VorTech pumps is defined by the manufacturer as follows:
MP10 – 200gph – 1,575gph
MP40 – 1,000gph – 3,200gph, Feed mode 500gph**
MP60 – 3,500gph – 7,500gph, Feed mode 1,250gph**

From Vortech.
MP-10 Flow Range: 200-1,500 gallons (750 – 6,000+ Liters) per hour (13% to 100%)
