SCMAS Meeting September 19th (raffle: Ecotech MP10, AI Hydrs 26, and more)

Our September 19th meeting will be held at: 7:00 p.m.

This month we will tell you all you need to know about the upcoming event Reef-A-Palooza. Also we had a few people who went to MACNA and we hope they would share their experience with us.

Remember, SCMAS meetings are always open to non-members. Feel free to bring frags and equipment for sale if you like. Just remember to post pictures so we can drool over them.

Aquarium clubs are a great way to connect with a fun group of people who share your passion for saltwater tanks.

We would love to have you join us.

As always, bring your questions and problems for discussion.

Steve Garrett will not be available so there will be no water testing this month.

Mega raffle this month! Also have a Apex Jr. with Display and a WP25. Unfortunately I will be working at the Sand Sports Super Show Friday night, but Kelly will be at the meeting selling memberships. Last chance to join the club before Reefapalooza, members get in the show for free and early:) Any of you who have a friend attending the meeting that has not picked up there membership card please pick up. Your membership card is your entry pass for Rap.

Greg mentioned members talking about Macna, here is my experience.

I had a great time at Macna and have a couple new additions that I will receive this Thursday. I have a pair of Lightning Maroon Clowns coming from Sea & Reef Aquaculture. I won 1 fish in the raffle at Macna and bought a second from Jess at Diablo Corals. These fish are second generation captive bred Maroons from the original Papua New Guinea Morph. I was so excited about the new fish I ordered a large Colorado Sunburst Anemone from Cherry Corals to arrive this Thursday for them to host. My fingers are crossed and I hope that Captive Bred Lightning Maroons show a little less aggression than a wild fish.

Kelly was also lucky in the Macna raffle winning a MP40, Tunze Skimmer, SeaChem frag tool kit, case of ChemiPure Blue, Ruby Red 1/2 Gallon pack, and two large buckets of salt. I sold the salt at the show and Liz and Jorge from Reefers Cove brought home the rest of our wins. Thank you Reefers Cove!

I also came home with a couple Red Dragon 80 watt Speedy pumps with 1-10 volt inputs that are pretty sweet for my frag tank closed loop and new coral quarantine tank. Royal Exclusiv has a new facility in Florida and they will be ramping up support in the US for their high quality efficient aquarium gear over the next few months. Expensive yes, but the quality is second to none!

One last thing I ended up with is a huge Ceramic Arch for my coral quarantine from Scott at the Captive Reef, this guy does not only build my favorite frag plugs, but he is also an Artist with his larger aquascape pieces. Thank you Scott and I am glad you made it to the show with your car troubles.

Every year the California group who goes to Macna is growing and for those of you who wish to visit our Nations Capitol Macna 2015 is a great excuse!

We had a great time at Macna and are looking forward to Rap, many friends from out of town will be attending the show and I may have herd of a 3rd annual Rap barbeque a super cool reefer is putting on;) PM me for details.

At the monthly meetings would have been a good start. But I'm thinking at RAP they will have a way to become a member.
