Credit Card to Clean Glass

Is it ok to scrape the inside glass with an old credit card? It's kind of hard for me to get everywhere with my razor blade on the handle.

No harm in trying. I used an old credit card on my old acrylic tank all the time.

Probably less chance of scratching the glass/acrylic with a credit card

Works pretty well on acrylic. On actual glass, a hand-held single-edge razor blade, or a Mag-Float with glued-on razor (there is a kit). There's also a device called a 'Flipper' that looks promising. Be VERY careful not to touch the sandbed as you clean: getting a grain of sand into a magnetic cleaner can actually scratch glass, let alone acrylic.

Mag-Floats are great but like Sk8r said there is danger of picking up sand particles if you get too close. I think that was the first thing I said to my GF when I set the tank up...Don't touch the Mag-Float. Haha.

If you do have a magnetic cleaner such as a Mag Float, try not to leave it in the tank for any length of time either. Sooner or later spirorbid worms will set up shop in between the bristles, which is basically no different than dragging a grain of sand across the glass. My front glass is lousy with scratches.

I've used a credit card before. It doesn't work as well as a razor blade but it gets the job done.

I use to keep an old expired debit card handy to scrape my glass. Works perfect. Can't say how it is for acrylic, but works great for glass.

It works fine for ice on the windshield too in a pinch.
