Hello Everyone,

I have a juvenile naso tang that I have had in my tank for about 2 months. He has been very healthy and is eating well. I feed him a variety of food including fresh and dried algae.

I noticed a bunch of spots on his side and around his mouth 2 days ago, I have since taken him out of the DT and put him in my QT. I am trying to see if the broader community can help diagnose this so I can treat appropriately.

Tank parameters, I need to measure Ammonia but NO3 is 0, pH 8.14, Salinity 1.025. Tank has been up and running for about 20 months.

I have also attached a pic.

Thanks,

Jeff

Is that red spot I'm seeing below the dorsal fin actually on the fish?

Plus the entire body, or at least a good part of it, has a reddish cast. Need to get it into HT with antibiotics quickly. Either Nitrofuracin green powder, or perhaps even fish flox/Cipro.

Yep, that is the red spot I was talking about right below the dorsal fin. there is also a bloody red strip down the other side of the fish. It also seems his gills are bright red.

Ca1ore, I am not sure what HT is. I am planning on putting Seachem Paraguard in the tank later today. Do you think this will help?

Thanks.

Ca1ore, I do have the tang in QT so I think from that perspective I should be good.

HT is hospital tank, same thing. I would do the antibiotics as suggested above IMO.

+2 for antibiotics treatment ASAP. Something broad spectrum, such as Furan-2 or Kanaplex (or both).

Thanks for the quick responses. I have put Furan-2 in the tank so we will keep an eye him over the next couple of days to see if he recovers.
