View Full Version : 25 gallon tank cycling, how would you stock it?
So I have a 25 gallon tank that I just started cycling. I have no real intentions on where this tank is going, but I have a month or so anyway before I can start stocking it. So if you guys had this empty tank, what would your stocking list look like, whether it be a solitary tank or multiple fish, taking into consideration the size, which I know vastly limits the available fish.
On a side note, would a skimmer be necessary for a tank this size or would weekly water changes suffice? I will probably be getting one either way and I guess it depends partly on how messy the fish inside will be, but I am just curious.

me personally? a duo/trio of leaffish. lol thats what im doing in my 60gal that is cycling now. other small scorps. like a cockatoo waspfish
species only: maybe an angler or toadfish
i like venomuos fish. idk just something about them.the risk and what not.
i would have a skimmer. just insurance for the tank. they help take care of what ur natural filters do not

Waspfish. Definitely wasps.
Yeah I am kinda leaning towards something in that direction. Possibly an angler or a fumanchu lion. I also like the idea of leaf fish. I've never heard of the wasp fish until now, and have never seen them in any LFS for sale.
For anglers, I read they can get up to 8" but most sites say 30 gallon min tank size. I guess they don't really need swimming room and just wait for food?

Fu man chu are nice. I had one for a long time. Awesome to watch them hunt. And turns out mine was personable. That would be a good choice too
Maybe a fu and some bangai cardinals.

If its an aggressive fowlr, I would go with a golden dwarf moray, toby puffer, and one of the smaller lionfish. I personally prefer community tanks. Like a Possum Wrasse, Firefish, A few cardinalfish, and maybe a goby. GL!
