What is going on with my params?

Picked up two clowns and their bta for my newly established tank from a friend of a friend who had to rid them as he was moving. I didn't want him to have to give them to a lfs. Anyways , here's the issue.

Used 2 lbs of established lr for seed and 90 lbs of dry for base rock. 80 lbs of live sand , not really live just the caribseA live stuff.

Now, I used dr tims one and only about two weeks ago, put the fish in a week ago. I saw my ammonia go up the first day fish were added, and I've never seen it back up since.

I fed the bta a full raw shrimp, still no ammonia no nitrite and no nitrate. It's been two weeks, why do I see no nitrate?

Your tank is on one side or the other of a cycle. Hopefully the backside so you don't harm the stock. Depending upon your filtering and skimming you may never see nitrates. Hang tight and watch for a couple of weeks. Patience is important.
