So I want to build my own set of LEDs... I am contemplating two strips to run along side my T5's or possibly as a stand alone... I do want to eventually make one for my nano... I am just lost on what colors I should et along with what kind of driver... I hve no clue when it comes to drivers so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again in advance

Post more info about your current light setup and the corals you are/want to keep. Also the size and depth of your tank and your level of DIY savyness.

I'd suggest also spending some time researching the various LED threads and reading up. All the info is out there and not too hard to find.

I'd be happy to make suggestions, but we need more info.

The current setup I have is a 4x39w t5 ho setup... Corals are mainly LPS softies and zoas... I have a 40g breeder as of right but might be switching to a 60-65g tank that I believe is 24 inches deep...my diy savvyness has yet to be really determine haha but I can make it wirk with a little guidance and help

Following. I'm very interested in doing my own LEDs since my desktop system is so far entirely DIY (frameless, internal overflow and skimmer system, etc since I can't have a sump at work) and the dimensions are weird: 36x12 base, and only 8 high so it's long and wide for the depth.

Canopy or hanging light fixture. what light fixture. Post a pic. Also what sort of price range are you thinking? Dimming?

What about building it into your fixture in place of two of the bulbs and one of the ballasts?

Erik, I didn't realize that your light is not hanging. That could be a problem with the setup I've been talking to you about.

Gotcha... So my best bet would probably be to do a full DIY setup and get rid of t-5's if I wanted to go that route
