clam issue

I just bought a clam from Pacific east aquaculture at cmac 2014 on Saturday. Maybe I'm used to my dersa but this guy just doesn't look as happy. I had this clam checked out by James Fatherree when I got it and he said it looked fine. It was nice having him as a speaker and to be able to check it out when I bought it. Do these guys just not open as wide as a dersa or is its cause it'd so small. Even looks like the mantle may be a bit pinched on the left side but I may be wrong. My dersa has done very well getting huge but this maxima not sure. He is reacting to shadows which is a good thing
