I've currently got carbon and GFO mixed in a single reactor. The pump that powers it is a little loud and being my sump is in my living room, it's a little of a pain.

For the past week or so I've been running that carbon/GFO reactor when I'm at work. The pump goes on about 8am and goes off around 5pm via my APEX controller.

What are your thoughts about this?

A poor idea. The water in the reactor will become stagnant in that time. Better to either run it froma manifold from your return pump or get a quieter pump

Put a bag of sand under the pump.

Put a bag of sand under the pump.

Amazing how sometimes it's the simple fixes. I thought my pump was clear of everything but it turns out the pump was just slightly hitting the inside of my fuge. It's back to being quiet and the gfo/carbon reactor is running basically 24/7.

This is the first time I've done the carbon/gfo mix so I'm curious to see what happens in about a month when I change the media.

Thanks!
