Hello Everyone,

My friend has a 90 gallons reef and asked me to recommend a skimmer for him. He is looking to spend somewhere between 300-400 dollars. Anyway I have been using the same EuroReef 100 for the last 7 years and I really have no experiences with other skimmers. He has alot of fishes in the 90 gallons as well.

I have narrowed down those skimmers. Please let me know which skimmer you think is good?

1) SRO-1000INT - http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/super-reef-octopus-sro-1000int-5-in-sump-protein-skimmer.html
2) Classic 150INT - http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/reef-octopus-classic-150int-6-internal-protein-skimmer.html
3) Omega 130 - http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/vertex-omega-130-protein-skimmer.html
4) ReefDynamic - INS100 Protein Skimmer

Thanks

I have the first one and have been really happy with it on my 60 cube. But I have no experience with vertex. Between those four you probably cant go wrong with either of them.

I have the SRO-1000INT. Can't say I recommend it. Its a little finicky and wasn't set up properly from the factory. Some people have good experiences but there is a long thread on RC about how to mod this thing to actually work.

I am actually looking at a Aquamaxx ConeS.

You will not regret that. Wash it well with vinegar.

Go with a reef octopus nwb-150. My 90 did amazing with it.

I personally use the SKIMZ line of skimmers. I used to use a warner marine but after they stopped being made I switched to SKIMZ. Best skimmer I have ever used. I hear good things about bubblemagus as well but support and replacement parts might be iffy unless you get a US retailer.

Thanks everyone for the responses.
My friend isn't very good at playing around and adjusting the skimmer. So I was hoping to recommend him one that is just plug and play. But I guess with skimmer you just have to make some small adjustment here and there.

I see many people recommend Aquamaxx ConeS 1 and Skimz but those skimmers have the pump inside the body. It is hard to clean it?

Vertext is such a nice skimmer but so hard to find a replacement pump. So I think it is out.

Skimz or Aquamaxx

They come apart very easy for cleaning, a lot of other skimmers don't come apart at all and the inside of the chamber gets layered in algae.

I went with the CO-2 Aquamaxx on a 100 gallon tank. The pump is not internal on this model and it doesn't have the slanted collection cup. Seems perfect to me.
